Is it possible to wear a dress Looking for a vintage bridal gown that tells a family story while also being a contemporary haute couture piece? Mar and Nico’s wedding is the perfect example of how tradition and bespoke design come together in our atelier.
A bride’s wish: To escape from serialized productions
When Mar began to imagine her big day, she had a clear premise: she was looking for authenticity. Her connection to the south and childhood memories of opening trunks full of her great-grandmother’s historic lace led her to search for a dress created with antique pieces.
At L’Arca Barcelona, we found in Mar the “perfect symbiosis”. She didn’t want a conventional dress; she was looking for a piece that fused artisanal technique with the emotional memory of her Granadan roots.
The artisanal process: How a custom-made vintage wedding dress is born
Under Nina’s guidance, Mar’s design unfolded like a story. It wasn’t just about sewing, but about recapturing the essence of vintage fabrics. Every lace and every insert was meticulously selected and sewn together to create a unique vintage wedding dress, far removed from mass production.
“Each stitch whispered an ancient secret to me, a connection to the summers of my childhood in the south,” Mar explains.
Julia’s technical precision in the workshop allowed this dress, created with antique pieces, to fit Mar’s body with an impeccable drape, demonstrating that true luxury lies in attention to detail and mastery of traditional sewing.
Accessories with soul: From Juliette Cap to family jewels
To elevate this historically inspired look, we designed an accessory that exudes romance: a Juliette Cap veil. Crafted from natural silk tulle, this headpiece incorporated remnants of the same antique lace as the dress, creating perfect visual harmony.
The styling was completed with jewelry that followed the same line of sentimental value: diamond and pearl earrings from her grandmother (Puig Doria), reinforcing that concept of “something borrowed” with a deep meaning.
A wedding with essence in the heart of Barcelona
On July 4th, Mar walked down the aisle at the Church of Santa María Reina. Her entrance, to the strains of “Nada te turbe” by Saint Teresa of Ávila, reflected the peace of a bride who felt completely herself.
From the “Team Make-up” created by her mother and her five sisters, to the breakfasts with chocolate and sponge fingers at the Petritxol Farm after each fitting, the journey to the dress was a celebration in itself.
The value of choosing a dress with a story
For Mar, there was no need for a second look. Her dress, created from vintage pieces, was so special that she wanted it to accompany her until the very last dance. Because when you choose a vintage wedding dress at L’Arca, you’re not just choosing a garment; you’re choosing a legacy.
