Antique white or black mantillas on the catwalk
Vintage mantillas are back in style this winter 2024. In Chloé’s latest runway shows, women were seen wearing folk-inspired garments, draped in lace, ethereal dresses, and lace capes, all inspired by antique mantillas.
Interestingly, this wonderful accessory is making a comeback on the catwalks in 2024, thanks to the “revival” of Spanish craftsmanship and antique lace .
Antique white mantillas as a cape
Whether in the form of a classic bridal mantilla or in its renewed birth as a bridal cape , Brussels lace, embroidered tulle or Chantilly lace mantillas are the favorites of 2024 brides.
Antique black mantillas
In designer Andrés Sardá’s latest fashion show, four top models from the 90s and muses of the designer served as ambassadors, bringing the glamour this lace garment deserves. The show featured antique handmade Chantilly lace mantillas, Cambray lace mantillas, lace towel mantillas, and Granada-style mantillas.

Suit and lingerie: Andrés Sardá
It broke into a great ovation giving way to the spectacular entrance of the supermodels of the 90s: Vanessa Lorenzo, Judit Mascó, Verónica Blume and Martina Klein who came out, one after the other, dressed in handmade antique mantillas.

The four muses of the nineties, wearing Andrés Sardá’s outfits and lingerie, managed to give aesthetic prominence to this wonderful and often maligned accessory: the lace mantilla.

The Spanish lace mantilla, as the designer’s daughter, Nuria Sardá, explained, served as the foundation for the Andrés Sardá brand. She also recalled her father’s beginnings as an industrial engineer and lace maker for mantillas, a technique he later applied to all kinds of garments , transforming “lingerie from something orthopedic into something sensual.”

In the final carousel, the four models appeared together, now without their mantillas, closing the tribute to the man who turned his profession into a passion, revolutionizing the lace and lingerie industry. We couldn’t have imagined better ambassadors for this iconic fashion garment. If you’re interested in white or bridal mantillas, you can see more options at this LINK
