Visiting La Pedrera (Casa Milà) is to enter the world of Antoni Gaudí and discover this unique modernist building, which shows off its best features in the last days of the year.

Visiting La Pedrera is also like traveling back in time and seeing how a bourgeois family from the beginning of the 20th century celebrated Christmas in this emblematic building on Paseo de Gracia, one of the most important examples of the Catalan modernist movement.

L’Arca, a specialist in antique textiles and lace, has been responsible for the textile interior design of the so-called “Neighbors’ Apartment” at La Pedrera, located on the fourth floor of Casa Milà, for decades. This apartment recreates the lifestyle of a bourgeois Barcelona family from the first third of the 20th century.

You can see the interior layout of a home, with spacious rooms designed to ensure the comfort of its inhabitants, and period furniture; as well as the household appliances and decorative elements designed by Gaudí. In the apartment, you can also watch a video presentation that shows the modernization of Barcelona in the first quarter of the 20th century.

During the Christmas season, La Pedrera is decorated with the central dining table set for the holidays, featuring a linen tablecloth and bobbin lace, fine porcelain tableware with painted motifs, and silver cutlery.

During this journey through time you can also see the different spaces such as the entrance hall, living room, dining room, bedroom, office, children’s room, bathrooms, kitchen, pantry and service quarters of La Pedrera, distributed as they were 100 years ago.

And if you appreciate details, you’ll enjoy the ornamental elements designed by Gaudí for Casa Milà: knobs, handles, moldings, doors, and flooring.

La Pedrera is managed by the Catalunya la Pedrera Foundation , which carries out social and environmental projects. 45% of the ticket price goes towards the conservation and maintenance of La Pedrera. 55% goes to the foundation’s social action programs.
