Carolina has a very personal style and is passionate about vintage fashion . She has a clothing brand , echo77 Bali , which I love because it’s a fusion of tropical joy and contemporary style. I knew she was going to be an original bride. If you’re looking for an original wedding dress, here are some ideas .
Álvaro and she met by chance through a friend at the Swab Barcelona art fair, 6 years ago.
Just before they met, he started a job in Bali and she accompanied him, so from the very beginning, they began their life adventure between Bali and Barcelona.
They got married on June 27th on the Indonesian island, with their parents and a group of friends who traveled to the ends of the earth to be with them.

They found a very special opal at a flea market and decided it would be perfect for his ring, and at an antique shop in Bali they found a ring with an emerald for her. For jewelry, she wore beautiful flower earrings that belonged to Álvaro’s grandmother, Montse, and a cameo medallion that belonged to her grandmother, María.
“They believe in Indonesia that the rings chose us.”

Carolina is an old friend of l’Arca: she used to come to our store when she worked in Paris with Jean Paul Gaultier. He would buy pieces for inspiration and that’s how he met us: “I remember that day you gave me a top hat that I keep as a great jewel and for me it was the discovery of a universe, which I entered and little by little I started going to buy accessories for weddings or parties.
“I always knew that if I ever got married, I would wear a dress from l’Arca. I wanted a flattering, simple, comfortable dress, and above all, a piece that I could wear again.”

Carolina was looking for a unique, lingerie-inspired, and feminine piece. She opted for a 1940s satin slip dress , a custom-made lace jacket, and a gold brocade kaftan, also from L’Arca.
“For the ceremony I was looking for ceremonial kimonos , because due to my Asian influence, I wanted it to be a key piece.”
The ceremony was officiated by Rocío, one of Carolina’s best friends and a film director, who wore a beautiful vintage lilac kaftan. They met many years ago in Los Angeles when she worked for Jeremy Scott.

Alvaro and Carolina designed their wedding down to the last detail themselves. “We took photos of the hotel spaces and manipulated them in Photoshop with our ideas to imagine how it could look.”
“Then we shared it with our wedding team in Bali and they found the necessary suppliers and materials, such as the hundreds of marigold flowers that they sewed one by one the night before.”

“We were quite inspired by Indian weddings, with some Balinese influence and our own style which is a multicultural fusion.”

To open the dance, Carolina changed out of her kaftan and into an antique embroidered Japanese kimono . Then Elvis’s “Love Me Tender” played, followed by “Chunari Chunari” from “Monsoon Wedding,” a film that greatly inspired the wedding.

“It was also an Indian wedding in the sense that the celebration lasted a week. Since we were making people travel across the world, we wanted each day to be special and organized what we call the Wedding Tour with events every day.”
“The first half of the week in the south of the island and then inland, in a remote area, where we experienced the most authentic Bali.”

“We will both always remember the amount of love we felt that day; everyone was happy, floating in a kind of bubble of shared love. It was magical. We will always be grateful to our families and friends for crossing the world for us and coming to see the place and meet the people who welcomed us with so much love.”
