A lace wedding dress

Wedding dress with lace and mantilla

Ever since she was 7 years old, Clara dreamed of a lace wedding dress. One of her cousins got married in a dress covered in lace, and she knew then that she would get married in a similar dress.

Clara tells us: “I wanted a dress that was timeless, and that would always reflect me, to be myself without being swayed by fashion.”

Lace is the paradox of being simple yet incredibly intricate and elaborate; it’s timeless, romantic, elegant… For me, it best represents me.

Clara

“I knew L’Arca had the best veils and lace, so I thought: What about a custom-made dress with their finest lace? It was love at first sight when we arranged the veils into the dress on the first visit. It turned out beautifully!”

She paired it with gorgeous custom-made Serena Whitehaven shoes and family heirloom jewelry.

Clara and Ignacio met when they were very young, but it wasn’t until after a volunteer trip together to Colombia that they got engaged.

They got married on July 16, 2022, at the Sant Vicent Church in Sarrià, Barcelona.

Flores Bertran took care of the flowers, and her mother and aunt decorated and adorned the church. Clara works and lives in Paris: it was her mother who took care of everything, along with the catering company Aspic.

“At the ceremony, there were more than 380 people, but Ignacio and I felt alone: Just us and the priest, receiving the sacrament of marriage.”

We enjoyed it so much and forgot about everyone else, that we spent the mass laughing, singing the chosen songs as if no one could hear us, and hugging each other: It was beautiful.

The banquet was held at Cavas Codorníu in the Penedès, one of the most impressive modernist wineries in Catalonia.

Clara wanted to bring the countryside inside the Cavas, and Flores Bertrán succeeded: All the tables were filled with green centerpieces with candles, and more than 18 trees were displayed among them. For the head table, they chose a structure from which hung green and white flowers and shot glasses.

“Our entrance to the reception was incredible, everyone was so into it! And when we sat down… my sister and my closest friends had prepared a surprise Mama Mia show for me! I was in shock! When we were little, in school, we always dreamed of doing the dance from the musical “Mamma Mia,” we loved it! And we said we’d do it at weddings… but that was just something we did in school! My sister remembered, and suggested it to my friends… and they didn’t hesitate for a second!! It was SPECTACULAR! People thought they were hired dancers!!”

“My father and I have been singing together for as long as I can remember—in the car, at home, everywhere! We enjoy and experience music together; it’s something that really bonds us! And we had always dreamed of dancing together to ‘ Something Stupid ,’ the song Frank Sinatra wrote for his daughter. And we did it.”

“My mother also ordered surprise sparklers for all the guests, so we danced surrounded by sparklers, super beautiful and unique!”

For our first dance as newlyweds, we chose the song “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. Even though it’s very typical, and we don’t really like typical things… It’s the song we always sing because the lyrics truly represent us! We’ve been together since we were little! I had told him I wanted to “fly,” that I thought it would be so much fun.

“I love to dance, but he, not so much, and he was more embarrassed about making me ‘fly,’ but in the end, we did it! We spent the whole dance laughing!! My mother also ordered surprise confetti for our dance, so we were both amazed when we suddenly saw confetti on us.”

“Another wonderful surprise and anecdote was the one Ignacio’s friends gave us. They know we’re Coldplay fans, so one of his friends, who’s in the band “Los Amigos del Novio” (The Groom’s Friends), arranged to end the show with Coldplay’s song “Fix You.” All his friends came out with huge balloons and confetti, simulating a Coldplay concert (and it was even better!)! It was very emotional, and we all ended up flying through the air!”
