A boho wedding dress in Menorca

Johanna is Swedish, and when Delfín took her to Menorca, while they were dating, she fell in love with the island instantly. They both knew from the start that the island of tranquility would be the perfect place for their wedding.

Johanna knew our atelier from her first walks in the narrow streets of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, and she remembered it when she began her search for her wedding dress.

She chose the Noa model, a crepe georgette dress inspired by 1930s designs, a very fluid crepe georgette dress with a central button closure and antique lace appliqués.

The lace was hand-cut and embedded in the fabric, reviving ancient sewing techniques .

She paired it with espadrilles from the brand Mi Bohème, customized in silk satin, to which she added a strip of bobbin lace made by her grandmother. She also chose a delicate embroidered tulle veil.

The celebration took place on Saturday, June 5th, in the parish church of Sant Cristòfol, in Es Migjorn Gran, where part of Delfín’s family lives.

The church decorations, bouquet, and boutonniere were arranged by Es Bonsais flower shop, with the help of Margarita Riudavets, a neighbor and close friend of the family. The engagement and wedding rings are from Soler-Cabot of Barcelona, and the rest of the jewelry is vintage, inherited from both families.

The bride entered on her mother’s arm while Johann Pacelbell – Canon in D was playing, and a good friend of hers, Nicolas Gomila, a member of the Binigaus Band, sang the Leonard Cohen version of Hallelujah.

“One of the best moments was inside the classic Mercedes, leaving the church elated and happy, everyone in the village stopped us and greeted us, it made us feel like royalty for a day.”

The meal and party took place at the Santa Mónica estate, 1 kilometer from Es Migjron, an old Menorcan farmhouse, with spectacular views of the entire south coast of Menorca.

Alfredo Esteban was in charge of the photos. The decoration of the party space was handled by S’Algar catering, which took care of the event, although Johanna added some of her own decorative items the day before, with the help of her mother and the godmothers.

The evening was enlivened by the best songs of Binigaus Band. Johanna changed her veil for a wide-brimmed hat and her bouquet for a vintage handbag.

It started to rain a little during dessert, and luckily they were able to set up tents for each of the tables to protect them from the rain.

A romantic dance in the rain, with a mix starting with Shallow by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, followed by Chuck Barry – let’s twist again, to liven up the guests, just a few minutes of dancing in the rain that were very emotional and became eternal for Johana and Delfín.
