“Victor and I met taking an exam in our final year at the French lycée. He always says that despite being well-prepared for the exam, he found it impossible to concentrate. Shortly after meeting, we started dating and… here we are, 11 years after that exam!”
Victor and Monica got married on May 27, 2023, in Menorca, a very special place for them, which they have visited every summer since they met.
They married in Menorca at the “Son Felip & Algaiarens” estate, two farms that are part of an agricultural project located north of Ciutadella. It’s a unique place that practices organic and regenerative agriculture while also offering rural accommodation. Víctor is part of the project at this unique location amidst the island’s unspoiled nature.
“Both my immediate family and Victor’s were staying in Son Felip during the wedding and a few days before, so on the wedding day we had to be especially careful when getting ready so as not to cross paths before leaving for the church. With all the nerves and commotion, we couldn’t find the rings a minute before leaving the house, but they finally turned up.”
“I was looking for a wedding dress in which I felt like myself, simple and charming, elegant but flattering and in keeping with the place and style of the celebration, but I didn’t have a clear preconceived idea either.
“I still remember the first time I visited L’Arca. Stepping into L’Arca, located in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, is like stepping back in time. Time stands still, and every corner is pure inspiration. From the very first moment, I connected with Nina, Julia, and their entire team. They instilled incredible confidence and professionalism in me, and I knew I had finally found my dream place.”
“I fell in love with l’Arca’s proposal: a custom- made vintage-style dress with a halter neckline and fine Brussels-style lace, in silk chiffon and with an open back. For the ceremony, we designed a custom-made tulle jacket together, which adapted perfectly to the dress and provided that sought-after double look.”
“One of the most special moments was the godfather’s verse, a typical Catalan tradition, in which the godfather, who is usually the groom’s best friend, dedicated a few words to me accompanied by the melody of his guitar.
“It was very exciting to be able to share that moment with my parents, siblings, my grandmother and my grandfather.”
The religious ceremony took place in the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Mar in Ciutadella.
“The moment of his entrance to the ceremony was one of our favorites. Victor entered to the song “ Cerf-Volant ” by Les Choristes, a nod to the school choir he had participated in as a child, and to all the French guests.”
“For my part, I entered to Pachelbel’s Canon in D major; I had always imagined that on my wedding day I would enter to that song. We had soprano Corretja Genestar and organist Esperança Rotger for the music of the ceremony.”
They welcomed all the guests with a “Ginet”, the island’s typical drink made with gin and lemonade, and surprised them with a horse show from the farm, something typical of Menorca.
During the cocktail hour, one of Víctor’s best friends, Tomás, had a surprise for us: he played the piano and dedicated some beautiful songs to us. It was incredible to see all the guests singing along around us.
For the floral arrangements, they enlisted two professionals: Jordi Ferran, with his extensive experience, handled all the church decorations, the bouquet, the marquee with olive trees, and the cocktail and dance areas; and Toli Marqués de Son Felip, who created all the centerpieces using wildflowers from the countryside, olive branches, lavender, eucalyptus, and even artichoke blossoms from the garden. For the seating plan, they chose an antique Menorcan door, typical of the Camí de Cavalls route.
“One of my closest friends, Ana, who is the most thoughtful person I know, gave us an extraordinary gift that we will never forget: she hand-embroidered the name of each guest on a small white linen bag. We placed the bags on the tables and filled them with a thank-you card for each guest and a 100ml bottle of organic extra virgin olive oil produced in Son Felip.”
“It was a dream come true to be able to gather all our family and friends in such a special place and share with them everything that lies behind this little paradise. We wanted Menorcan products to be present at all times: from extra virgin olive oil to honey from Algaiarens and ending with the organic beef burgers we served as a late-night snack, which were a huge success and sold out in record time.”
“The best part of the wedding is the happiness of being able to gather all the people you love in one place and at one time to celebrate our union. Having been together for so many years, our friends and family know each other very well, and it was clear that there was a special bond and connection among all the guests.”
