MINERVA Georgette crepe dress with “broderie anglaise” ruffles and back neckline
The sun rises on the horizon as the sea softly ripples in the morning breeze. On the shore, a young woman looks at her fiancé leaving on a boat. Once at sea, he is surrounded by a siren’s song. It’s a seductive melody, but the young fisherman thinks only of Cordelia. Faced with this visible sign of love, the siren strikes the water with her tail, and the column of foam changes into a bride’s beautiful lace veil. At nightfall, the young fisherman comes back and gives his beloved this marvellous veil, a jewel from the sea that represents the strength of their bond.
Antique bobbin lace is the main pillar of Cordelia and the Sea, a collection defined by diaphanous, ethereal silhouettes. Sheer textiles such as gauze, muslin, carded cotton and plumetti become the perfect canvas for subtle laceinlays. Whereas some designs recall lingerie, others play with frills.
In this collection special attention is paid to artisanal embroidery and soleil pleating. The collection is an homage to ‘the skilled hands of all women who seamlessly went from repairing fishing nets to making bobbin lace’. Cordelia and the Sea is also an exercise in high-end craft, a combination of passion and skill that permeates all the bridal dresses that come out of our Barcelona workshop, just a few steps from the sea.
