Butterfly dust

This gothic photoshoot by American photographer Caitlin Bellah tells the story of a witch who needed butterflies to make her poisons and who ultimately ends up transformed. It’s based on the myth of black butterflies that release a powder capable of blinding you.

Two-piece dress circa 1900 embroidered with gold thread lace
This old legend originates from Badalona, a city near Barcelona. In another version of the story, the black butterfly, constantly fluttering around the person in question, invites them to follow it into the depths of the countryside, where a strange metamorphosis takes place: the butterfly increases in size in a matter of seconds and devours the unfortunate follower.
