Lidia came with her mother from Madrid to L’Arca to have a custom-made dress . “When I was single, whenever I passed by L’Arca’s atelier, I thought that if I ever got married, I wanted to have my wedding dress made there. And the moment arrived. In Madrid, I visited several bridal shops, but in every dress I felt like I was in costume.”

“I arrived at Nina’s and told her a little bit about what I wanted, what I was like, the type of wedding, and from that day on she began to give shape to a dream.”

Lidia chose a slip dress with a low back, which she paired with a coat featuring puffed sleeves in crepe georgette with tulle details inlaid with Brussels lace.

The wedding was called “L’illa Vermella,” the red island in Catalan. “We describe our love as an island, surrounded by the sea (for us, it’s a metaphor for God) and a place where we can enjoy sunsets together, nature, exotic plants—a place that feels like home. The color red is the one we’ve associated with our feelings.”

“My sister and I prepared the decorations together. It was hard work and a lot of time invested, but it was beautiful! We would do it all again. My sister Maria is an artist. She works in graphic design and, in addition to that, she has infinite and beautiful worlds in her mind.”

The entire wedding was inspired by this island, with earth tones, greens, lots of banana plants, yellow and white flowers, etc. The ceremony was on the lawn.”

“Álvaro’s votes moved me deeply. He read me my favorite poem by Pedro Salinas and brought out his most sensitive and beautiful side. I get emotional just remembering it.”

“It was a Protestant ceremony. Everyone agrees how moving, authentic, and heartfelt it was. I went barefoot. My brother-in-law presented and gave a very funny speech. Friends came from all over the world. Our siblings gave speeches, and we laughed a lot reminiscing about our childhood.”

“For the dance we chose a swing piece and we really enjoyed preparing it, it was a lot of fun. We spent the whole year taking classes for it, but when it came time to dance my dress got caught on my feet and we improvised a bit. It was fun.”
