A bride with a cape in Galicia

Sergio and Lucía got married in July on a small island on an estate in Alfoz, a Galician village, in an intimate ceremony with attention to every detail.

“We knew we would get married in Galicia, we are both Galician and I always imagined myself surrounded by hydrangeas.”

The two met at work; they both work in fashion, although in very different departments.

“Sergio surprised me by taking me to Paris to celebrate his birthday after we had only shared four coffees, and from then on, we were inseparable. He proposed to me when we reached our tenth anniversary; he needed to be sure of it. We did it in the mountains, and it was beautiful.”

Lucia’s bouquet was made up of English roses and the wildflower that grows on the beach where she used to spend her summers with her grandparents. Her twin sister chose it on the wedding day itself, and it was a precious gift for both of them.

“I wore earrings created from a family jewel belonging to my great-grandmother. My grandmother made them for my godmother (my aunt) on her wedding day. They are beautiful and very elegant, and she is a role model for me; we are very close, and I knew from a young age that if I got married, I would wear them. And so I did.”

“I’m passionate about design and I followed L’Arca for years. What I do remember is that it was the first one I contacted and my final choice. I was looking for a dress with feeling, something simple but very well made, with a good drape, and above all, something that was very much me.”

“When I tried on the pleated cape, we knew I had to wear it. I felt like a fairy, and my sister and mother were thrilled; the three of us knew it was THE CAPE.”

“Together with the team at l’Arca, my twin sister, and my mother, we did it. The process was beautiful, and I was left with a feeling of emptiness once the tests were over.”

“I wanted to wear an organza ribbon to go with the cape and serve as a coat and accessory when I took it out for the reception. With all the nerves and the fun dancing during the cocktail hour, I ended up taking off both the cape and the ribbon! And I didn’t put it back on all night. At that moment, you just want to experience everything and not miss a single second of the party.”

“The music at the entrance to the ceremony: I entered to I won’t give up , and Sergio to the melodic Entre dos aguas , by Paco de Lucia.” The very carefully crafted photos were taken by “Petit de la Crème”.

“We both came out to the sound of Eres , by Antonio Orozco, a very special song for us that my friends Brenda Delgado and Carol Villegas sang to me a cappella, accompanied only by a cajón and a Spanish guitar.”

“All the flowers were arranged by L a Bendita flor, in A Coruña. I had an amazing connection with Anxela; she is an exquisite professional and perfectly captured everything I dreamed of, from the minimalist and beautiful ceremony setup, full of flowers, to the table settings.”

“So much time spent imagining the moments of that day and the style changes, only to forget half of it when you actually enjoy it.”

“It flew by, literally. But I have a beautiful memory of the cocktail party, and all my friends surrounding us as we danced; it was everything I could have asked for. Our happy people, jumping around us celebrating love.”
